Elsie has tried both meatloaf and sloppy joe's for the very first time ever this week. I'm happy to report that she loves them both. Yay for a three year old who's willing to try new things!
Hooray! My 3 year old is usually willing to try new things, but has recently decided that some old favorites (green beans, cooked carrots) make him gag. Sigh...
If I had a secret, I'd tell you. I'm a pretty picky eater, but I think Elsie has me beat. Most nights she'll ask what's for dinner, I tell her-being as enthusiastic about it as possible-she shares her disapproval if it's something she hasn't tried, and I end up making her something else. If she does like it, she sits at the table and waits...even if I've just started cooking and it'll take an hour, funny girl! Sometimes she'll help. Anyway, I talked her into the meatloaf by bribing her with ketchup, which I've tried before unsuccessfully so who knows why it worked this time. With the sloppy joe's, she walked in the kitchen as I was serving them, and told me they looked good. I was shocked, but naturally, I got that girl a plate as fast as I could before she could change her mind. She loved them both. Tonight, we grilled, and I also made potato wedges...I cut the potatoes, drizzle with italian dressing and parmesan cheese and bake. They're delicious, and she tried them for this first time tonight too. I've heard for awhile that the food thing is just a phase for toddlers, but I never thought she'd wake up one day and start trying new foods every other day. I'm happy it's happened though. I told Jason we should get some new meals into her while we've got the chance!
Go Elsie! First potty training, now expanding her palate ... isn't it crazy how you think your child will never overcome something then one day they wake up and just do?
I'm a loving, devoted wife and mother of two with a camera. My husband and I have set our lives apart to live for God, and we're raising children who will one day make that same decision for themselves. Hopefully, they'll have a few less bumps along the way! Mainly, I'm enjoying life and all the joy that a toddler and an infant bring to each day.
This man is evidence that God really pays attention when I pray. It amazes me how well we seem to fit together and balance one another. He's the leader of our home and also a leader in our church and at his workplace. I'm so thankful for him! He's my best friend and a great daddy to our sweet girls.
Our Sweet Elsie
Elsie was born on February 25, 2005 with a cleft soft palate. It was repaired shortly before her first birthday, and she's as good as new! We're very blessed that God has continued to provide healing for her as she hasn't suffered any of the other problems associated with having a cleft. Her favorite things are Fancy Nancy, going to church, her best friend-Lydia, playing her Leapster, and making bracelets.
Our Sweet Claira
Claira was born on October 31, 2007. Her favorite things are nursing, climbing, hiding Mommy's cell phone, her big sister's toys, baby dolls, nilla wafers, and accessories.

Please tell me how you managed this!
It would be a huge celebration at our house as well!

Those potato wedges sound yum. I think I'll have to give them a try. Maybe I can convince Adam that they are a cousin to the french fry. ;)
